Suggestions Wanted Or OMG I'm Finally Going On A Vacation After Like A Year and a Half and it's to NYC and BEA!

In about a week I'm going to depart on a vacation I'm so so so very excited about. I'll be going to New York and also Book Expo America. Since I just decided for sure last Monday I'm a little bit behind planning wise. I have barely started to plan what I would like to see and do while in New York sightseeing wise and also BEA wise. I know for sure I want to go to art museums and book stores and maybe some comic or zine shops basically something quirky that I can only find in NY. I would LOVE to hear any suggestions from anyone that would like to share about what I could do while I'm there in New York in general or while at BEA. Seriously this would be a great help and also help get me moving on my plans, I know there is so much to see and do there and I want to take advantage of it! Thank you in advance for any ideas you share!

  6. oh, so lucky! I really want to go, I have a few friends that are going (and I'd like to meet them in person!). You should meet up with Devyn from FiveAwesomeYAFans and Korianne from Korianne Speaks, they'll be there.

  8. You CANNOT miss The Met OR the New York Public Library. Those are the two big ones I can suggest from personal experience. The Met made my jaw drop - literally. And it is the only museum I have ever gotten lost in. I'm not kidding on that. Lost. Seriously. I could have spent a day just there. And you have to PROMISE me to take a picture next to the lions (Patience and Fortitude are their names) outside the NYC Public Library. They are iconic to New York (that's actually where my profile picture is. I'm dancing right in front of them).

And if you can grab me a copy of Catching Fire at BEA, I would love you forever. Just sayin' ;)

(And central park is amazing there. You have to eat a hot dog from a stand if you go there. It's just what you're supposed to do). Have an AMAZING time!

  9. Some obvious ones: The Met, The MOMA, Dunkin Donuts (that's how I get caffeinated on the cheap when I am in NYC). The Museum of American Illustration if you are into that kind of thing. Cool places to walk around and take photos: Coney Island and Long Island City.

Have fun-I am SO jealous! I had to postpone my trip to NYC (that was supposed to happen this weekend actually!) to the fall. I am craving the city so badly right now!

  11. I'll be going to NYC in a few weeks, and even though this will be my third (or fourth?) visit, I'm still totally pumped about it. I'm taking a friend of mine with me who's never even been on a plane before, and these are the big places we're planning on hitting:
    The Brooklyn Superhero Supply Co.
Coney Island (she really wants a Nathan's Famous hot dog)
    The off-Broadway Coraline show
Central Park and Shakespeare in the Park (Anne Hathaway's doing Twelfth Night while we're there)
and about a billion book stores.

We're also planning on eating at Sardi's, Serendipity, and hitting up Dylan's Candy Bar while we're there. Enjoy your trip; I can't wait to hear about it!

  12. Suggestion and Demand:

    Enjoy yourself. You've earned it.

Also: Be prepared to walk for miles.

Also: Take many bags for all the books you'll net.
